Graduate & Professional Student Association (GPSA)

Student Research Grant (SRG)

  • Up to $500 per academic year. Generally, a total of $8,000 in the fall, $9,000 in the spring, $3,000 in the summer 
  • Usually due by Noon,5th Friday of Spr/Fall/Summer semesters, but check the application for exact deadlines
  • Research related to the completion of a degree, other research of interest to the applicant, trips to conferences.

Professional Development Grant (PDG)

  • Up to $500 per academic year
  • Usually by noon, 5th Friday of Spr/Fall/ Summer semesters
  • Travel expenses not covered under the SRG grant. This includes travel to interviews, clinicals, anything that is not classified as a conference.

New Mexico Research Grant (NMRG)

  • $5000 for high-priority projects, $3000 for general research projects
  • Usually by noon, 5th Friday of Spr/Fall/ Summer semesters
  • For research in affiliation with state agencies that directly benefit New Mexico. Funds equipment, computer software, travel expenses, and other supplies not available in applicants' department. All research projects must be within the fiscal year (July 1 through June 30).

Graduate Scholarship Fund (GSF)

  • $1000 need-based scholarship for those students within 3 semesters of graduating and in good standing in an UNM graduate program. 
  • Students can receive the scholarship for up to 2 semesters.
  • Usually by noon, 5th Friday of Spr/Fall/ Summer semesters

  • Up to $2000 to aid in completion of the MFA or Ph.D. dissertation.
  • For archival or field research.
