Research related to the completion of a degree, other research of interest to the applicant, trips to conferences.

For research in affiliation with state agencies that directly benefit New Mexico. Funds equipment, computer software, travel expenses, and other supplies not available in applicants' department. All research projects must be within the fiscal year (July 1 through June 30).

$1000 need-based scholarship for those students within 3 semesters of graduating and in good standing in an UNM graduate program.
Students can receive the scholarship for up to 2 semesters.
